Our wedding week is hosted in the commune of Clérac in South western france, 40 minutes out of Bordeaux. There are many different travel options to get to the city and to the acommodation, all of which are outlined below. We're also happy to help if you have any questions!

Getting To France

Unfortunately, you can not fly directly to bordeaux from key australian airline hubs (singapore, doha, Qatar, UAE), however, there are multiple daily flights from other easily accessible european destinations, our personal favourites being London, Paris, or Italy.

We recommend flying to Europe on: Singapore Airlines, Qatar, Qantas or Emirates, however there are cheaper flights available, through Fly Scoot, or China based airlines. Typically Return flights do not exceed $1500 per person, however we have seen them as cheap as $900 for similar dates, if you’re happy to sleep in the airport! Typically, Flights go on sale around 11-12 months before the date, we recommend buying your tickets as early as possible, or waiting until they go on sale, typically tickets are cheapest 12 months or 3 months prior, depending on availability. Tools like Google Flights or Hopper can help you navigate and keep track of this.

Note that some airlines do book you through to ‘Bordeaux’ however the final leg is often a train.

Getting To Bordeaux

You can fly from Paris or most other European destinations, however the train is also a great option. If you wish to catch the train, there are many options available, we recommend trainline to organise a cheap and efficient ticket:

• Paris – Bordeaux ($75 AUD)

• London – Bordeaux ($280 AUD)

Part of the reasoning we chose to do a European wedding, is we wanted our closest friends and family to experience the joy, love and laughter bought on by a European Holiday, we recommend looking at Easyjet or Ryanair and planning a week or two either side of the wedding, it can be a lot cheaper and easier than you think!

If you have any questions or are wanting advice, please feel free to reach out to us and we’d be happy to help.

Getting To The Chateau

Unfortunately there are no direct rail or bus services to Clerac.

There are a few options available:

  • Rent a car directly from Bordeaux, these generally don’t exceed $40 per day, the drive from Bordeaux airport is generally 40 – 60 minutes.

  • Catch a train to Saint-Mariens – Saint-Yzan station note that you will need to catch a tram or a bus from the airport to Carnot – Mairie de Cenon station to do this from the airport, you can organise your tickets from trainline. From there, it is an 18 minute drive to the chateau, which you can uber or taxi, however, we ask that you communicate your travel plans with the bride and groom, as we may be able to help transport some of you ourselves or help organise some group transfers if multiple people will be arriving to Bordeaux at similar times.

The chateau has enough rooms to accommodate 30 guests and we will be providing off-site accommodation for the remaining guests. Guests staying off site will also have transportation organised each day to make sure they are still included in the events! The off-site accommodation will be located close to the chateau and these guests will not be missing out on any of the group festivities.
